Two months ago planning a 6:45 AM flight seemed like a great idea...
This morning we woke up at 4:30 am with 4 hours of sleep ready to get to the airport. We landed in Denver early with no trouble and got on our connecting flight. When we landed in San Francisco it was a pleasant surprise to not walk off the plane and be shivering. Luckily our bags were the first three bags to come out of the chute at baggage claim. We got to check into our hotel early but much to our sunrise our hotel "room" (aka closet) is about a quarter of the size of our dorm room. We dropped off our bags and left to begin the day. Being 45 minutes ahead of schedule we thought the day was going to go off without a hitch. We were wrong.
We planned to get bus passes but got distracted by the trolley and went up the hill. The trolley was really awesome until you were hanging off if it too far and almost got hit by a car. Once to the top we got to the grace cathedral and took advantage of the photo Opp. Realizing we didn't get our bus passes we looked online to find out where we could find them. After going to three stores in Chinatown and trying to conquer the language barrier we still didn't have bus passes. After all this both of us had become very irritated and "hangry". We settled into a little restaurant in china town for lunch.
We then began our walk to Coit Tower (since we still didn't have bus passes). Although google maps said it wasn't the longest walk, it happened to be all uphill. We found ourselves going up hills so steep it was like we were crawling. Finally we got to the top of the tower and the view was incredible (worth the $8 "elevator charge"). Today was windy. Standing at the top if the Coit Tower was like standing in a wind tunnel. Realizing that there was no way we were walking back to hotel we called an über to take us back to the hotel.
For dinner we went to a cute area called Belden's place (a strip of authentic, international foods). We ate at an French restaurant called Plouf and had delicious food. After dinner we recharged with some Starbucks and went to get ready for the concert. We went to a local venue and saw a band named kapslap. The people there were interesting to say the least. Overall this day was long. We were up from 4:30 am to 2:30 am Minnesota time and did a significant amount of walking. Luckily we got our bus passes eventually and we are looking forward to tomorrow.
